Heat up waffle iron until it is very hot
Liberally brush waffle iron with butter on both sides and close for 15 seconds
Spread one big ladle over the waffle iron, making sure not to overfill. Self raising flour will expand as it cooks, so if it starts coming out the edges while cooking, that's too much.
Cook for 2 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes on the other side or until the second side is brown.
Repeat, adding butter and cooking more!
Serve with ice cream and maple syrup.
